Bartlett & West founders, Charles West and Harry (Bus) Bartlett grow the firm to a close-nit 15 employees. Their livelihoods depend upon personally identifying opportunities and staying close to their clients. They learn to make judgments about people, clients, business partners, and employees. From an early focus on land development, Bartlett & West goes on to pioneer rural water systems and later enters the transportation market.
Milestones
• Bartlett & West designs the first rural water district in Kansas. • Helps survey and design the Kansas Turnpike.
