GIS Use for Public Works Management GIS Use for Public Works Management

A total of 89% responding to a Bartlett & West study titled "GIS Use for Public Works Management in the United States and Canada," indicated that their organizations have implemented Geographic Information Systems (GIS). One thousand three hundred seventy-five public works professionals participated, providing an in-depth look at how public works professionals are using, budgeting, funding, and supporting GIS programs.

What are their budgets? Will budgets decrease, stay the same, or increase over the near and long term? More than 60 percent are using GIS as a public works management tool. What are they managing with GIS? What more would they like to do?
